Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes & Stila Convertible Color: REVIEW & SWATCHES

Sunday, March 1, 2015

I have no shame in admitting that I am ADDICTED to blushes (well, I am pretty much addicted to beauty products in general). I am totally well aware that I have too many blushes for my own good.

With the several years of makeup hoarding and experience, I have fallen in love with the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes and the Stila Convertible Color (Blushes), which are my favorite powder blushes and cream bases respectively.

Top to Bottom: Buff, Adored, Fearless, Empowered, Hibiscus, Peach Blossom

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes
Price: $28 (Formerly, $26)
Availability: tartecosmetics.com, Sephora, Ulta, QVC

Buff
I love Tarte blushes in general. They are sooooo soft and pigmented. Buff is a nude-brown shade that gives a nice hint of color to the cheeks, while still looking natural. I have also been contemplating of using this as a warm toned bronzer, but I have not done so.

Adored
This shade is a cool (blue) toned pink with flecks of shimmer which are pretty obvious in the pan. Thankfully it does not make your face look like disco ball when you apply it, but instead it gives a pretty pink flush to your cheeks.

Fearless
Unlike Adored, Fearless is a warm toned pink blush. Although I love both, I like Fearless better because I think it looks better on my skin tone and it does not have shimmer in it which makes it better for every day use for school or work (even though I do love shimmer).

Empowered
This shade is a warm toned peachy-pink color with shimmer. Since it is lighter than Adored and Fearless, this shade would also be good for every day use and those who are iffy about brighter colors will fall in love with this color.

Stila Convertible Color
Price: $20
Availability: stilacosmetics.com, Sephora, Ulta

Hibiscus
I bought this along with Peach Blossom (below) a few months ago and I was surprised with how much I really liked them! They are creamy, smooth, easy and not messy to apply.I like them better than other cream blushes I own (Nyx Stick Blushes and E.l.f. HD Blush). Although I do prefer cream blushes over powder ones since they are easier to blend and last longer, however I use powder ones more because they are faster to apply and touch up with. Hibiscus is a peachy-pink color perfect for spring and summer months. I have not worn this too many times before but I intend to when the weather gets warmer.

Peach Blossom
This coral-red color is super pigmented and would look perfect in the summer time. The swatch may look daunting for those who are not into color but it blends well, leaving your face with a hint of warmth.

Bite Beauty Best Bite Remix 2014 Holiday Set: REVIEW & SWATCHES

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

If you've been keeping up with the newest beauty products like myself, then you must know there is a MASSIVE amount of limited edition holiday sets and value kits this year! This season, the Bite Beauty Best Bite Remix is one of the most talked about sets because of its great value.

Price: $25
Availability: Limited Edition, Sephora stores ONLY

The set includes 4 mini sized samples of Bite Beauty's High Pigment Lip Pencil which come inside a red, travel sized, metal, 'mint container' with a mirror for application. Each pencil is 0.05 oz, which may not sound like much, but since one full sized High Pigment Lip Pencil is $24 for 0.09 oz, you're getting the equivalent of TWO FULL SIZED pencils for only $1 more!

Swatches from left to right
Pomegranate, Rhubarb, Sable, Winterberry

Pomegranate is a cool toned, bright red with blue undertones. Since I have warm toned skin, this would not be my go-to red lipstick. However, this color is still flattering and does not wash out my makeup. (Permanent shade)

Rhubarb is a warm toned, muted, dusty pink color. This color is not too bright, like Pomegranate and Winterberry, and can be nicely worn for an everyday use to give your lips a pop of color. (Permanent shade)

Sable is a warm toned, beige color and would definitely be a great everyday nude lipstick. Out of the entire set, I think this shade would have to be my favorite since it is very wearable and versatile. In my opinion, Sable will look great on fair to light skin, but would look more washed out on darker counterparts. (Limited edition shade)

Winterberry is a pinkish-red color with blue undertones. In comparison to Pomegranate, this shade can have varying degrees of redness or pinkness depending your skin tone. For example, in my swatch, this shade appears to be very similar to Pomegranate, a rich red color, but may appear more pink on others. (Limited edition shade)

Unlike some holiday sets from other brands, these Bite lipsticks have very similar quality to their permanent collection. Bite is known to have super soft and pigmented lipsticks. All these lipsticks applied evenly and have an easy glide application. In addition, they have a creamy, glossy finish and do not dry out your lips. These can last about 5 to 6 hours, but can be applied with a lip liner or lip primer underneath to ensure staying power. While some may look better than others, I also like that the range of shades in this set are generally wearable and try to accommodate both warm and cool skin tones. Overall, I would highly recommend this product, especially at this value, for a gift or to keep for yourself!
